Luxury travel is defined a lot of ways. It’s all based on expectations, word-of-mouth, customer service, food, overall experience and many other things. Only when you have a resort that completely understands and excels at living up to luxury travel expectations do you get perfection. You get universal definition of luxury travel.
I have found one case where you would struggle not to find bliss in any direction you look…St. Regis Punta Mita on the Pacific coast of Mexico. Everyone knows that the St. Regis brand is one of the pillars of the luxury travel foundation but this location is purely sublime. Now I know why many Hollywood A-listers frequent this luxury travel haven on a weekly basis. You’d be hard pressed not to find a familiar place roaming the halls of this incredible property. There were some here during our stay but I will not sell them out. Let’s just say it was a power couple from the sports and fashion world.
Mexico has had it tough in the tourism department lately, but that should not keep you away from the St. Regis Punta Mita. Traveling here is easy into the very nice Puerto Vallarta airport and then you are a short 40 minute drive from an amazing luxury travel experience.
Once on the property be prepared to be overwhelmed with beauty, attention and options. The welcoming view is surely to be your new Facebook cover photo. Matter of fact, your entire stay will be filled with social media photo gold on every turn. There really is something for every type of traveler. Whether you are a lounger like me or adventurous and want to go spearfishing…the St. Regis Punta Mita has you covered. Some of the highlights include 3 massive pools, white sand for as far as you can see, a waiter at your every turn and pure relaxation options in every corner of the massive property. Everything is a brief walk away unlike some huge properties where you have to take a golf cart everywhere. You have the option to be carted, but walking is just as easy.
I feel it is must be very difficult to train a luxury resort staff to be on point at all times. This General Manager, Carl Emberson, has figured out the secret sauce. You’ll see him mingling with guests and you’ll also hear many employees talking about how great he is to work for which is hard to accomplish. His staff is courteous, friendly, helpful and are truly there “for your pleasure”. To excel at customer service in regards to luxury travel, you better be good. They are GREAT.
Below are some of the highlights that will help you the next time you start planning your next luxury travel destination vacation:
Getting There: The Puerto Vallarta airport is a breeze, very nice and very convenient to the hotel. I was very impressed by the overall cordialness of the people in this small Mexican town. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Getting to the hotel is easy and I would suggest setting up your transportation via the hotel who will send you a luxurious Lincoln Navigator for your quick 40 minute ride to the property.
The Food: Some really nice options await you from sitting with your toes in the sand to dressing up and hitting their 5 diamond restaurant. The Mita Mary Bistro Boat sits right in front of the water and you sit at tables in the sand. This is about as casual as you can get and as fresh of seafood as you can get. About 100 yards back you will find the Sea Breeze Restaurant and bar which has inside and outside options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The bar is under a tiki hut and is a great outdoor option at night to catch the sunset and have a casual cocktail. The Sea Breeze breakfast buffet is one of the best I have seen in the Caribbean and South America. The lunch and dinner menu is really solid and you can get any of these options poolside. The Clasico Burger on the lunch menu is stellar (See in photo slideshow above). My favorites on the dinner menu at Sea Breeze were the cold soup and goat cheese with passion fruit salad with added grilled chicken. There is also a 3 milk cake served in a glass that will rock you. If you want to get sophisticated be sure and reserve, at least, 1 night for the Carolina restaurant and bar. This is their 5 diamond restaurant for years running and it will not disappoint. You can take a virtual tour of both the bar and restaurant below…
The Accommodations: There are no bad rooms or villas. It’s a St. Regis! From a standard room all the way to the Presidential Suite you will find the level of modern sophistication you expect from one of the kings of luxury travel. The beds are fluffy and firm with the highest linen counts. One of my favorite features is the hidden remote controlled tv that pops up or down at your feet. The bathrooms feature flat screen tv’s, full wet room rain showers and really sexy outdoor private showers. They all feature the constant sounds of nature and banging waves. Check out a few different room types here in the master lot of 3D virtual tours or jump right into the seductive 1 bedroom suite below. Be sure and walk out onto the balcony to check out your view and also the outdoor shower…
The Golf: Wow. Just WOW. There are 2 Jack Nicklaus courses to play at Punta Mita. Pacifico and Bahia will blow you away as you have a hard time deciding if you wanna play the courses or photograph them! Every hole is a masterpiece of beauty and challenge combined. Pacifico is the #1 rated course in Latin America with 8 holes either facing or playing alongside the ocean. Pacifico also features the only natural island green in the world, hole #3B. It’s not on your scorecard because when high tide is in you can’t get to the green! Nonetheless, it’s really fun to try and you will say goodbye to a few balls giving it a shot.
The Poolside Action: 3 pools on the property that are awesome including an adult pool, beach club pool and family pool. Keep your eyes open and analyze who’s behind those sunglasses and novels because chances are it will be someone you might know from Hollywood or some other famous world. No kidding, this place is a magnet for starlets and tycoons. My tip: grab that Clasico Burger for lunch from the beach club pool. You can take a virtual walk around the beach club pool at sunrise below…
The Spa: Get ready to be pampered at one of the highest luxury travel levels you have ever seen. The Remede Spa has some very unique treatment areas and some of the best customer service as you would expect from the St. Regis. All of the treatment rooms are surrounding a very unique pedicure island on the inside and 2 really cool wet areas right outside the backside of the rooms. You can see both with all of the other St. Regis Punta Mita property 3D tours here.
The St. Regis Punta Mita is luxury travel and customer service at the highest level and above are just a few of the highlights of what you can expect when you arrive in paradise. If you have a short list for luxury travel this destination should sit at the top of that list. We produced 3D virtual tours of many of the spaces and experiences at the St. Regis Punta Mita which can all be viewed here for a complete tour of the experience that awaits you in Mexico.
